Health & Fitness
Wether under way or in port, maintaining your fitness and health is very important in the Navy. Not only because you must be prepared for PRTs, but it’s very important for you mental health as well.
Deployment is an especially a great time to start focusing on fitness. It’s a great way to pass time and feel good both physically and mentally.
While in port you have access to a gym on base, but it is nice to have a couple things in your barracks room to do little work outs there.
Below we have laid out some things to get you started:

Resistance bands
Try to come up with a workout plan, for beginners resistance bands are a great place to start. Find an experienced workout partner that can teach you how to use these properly and to keep good form. The last thing you want in to end up hurting yourself. Simply googling “workouts with resistance bands” can get you started as well. Resistance bands can also help someone get going with pull-ups too.
Headphones & Speakers
Water bottles/shakers
Footwear
Proper footwear can change the world for you. Whether its shoes for running or shoes for the gym, anything can work but it only makes sense to get the best for you. Remember, your feet are supporting your entire body and everything you’re lifting. Get some good footwear to help you out.

Gym Towels
On the ship and in almost every gym, towels are required. Nobody wants to use the gym’s community towel.
Protein
A good diet is definitely the most important thing for you. If you're working out, you can use a little extra protein. I advise you research what is best for your body specifically and find the protein that’s the best fit for you. Especially while deployed, protein bars were ALWAYS nice to have in my rack for a quick boost.
gear
The last thing you want to do is hurt yourself. Every workout plan is different but it’s always good to mix it up. Keep track of your workouts with a watch to follow how much you’re improving.
recovery
Ever since I discovered my roller stick, I’ve used mine every single day. When you’re working out you need to maintain good blood flow and take care of your muscles. These are some great ways to help with muscle recovery.
